Pocket Rockets

This game was developed over two semesters during a 3rd year project at Abertay University, with a team of 3 programmers, 3 artists a designer and a producer. The brief was from Hyperluminal Games with the general idea that it was to be a race with audience participation.


The name of the game is PocketRockets the game plays through connecting mobile devices to the main game hosted on a PC (similar to PlayStation's PlayLink). The aim of the game is to be the first one to finish the race. Powerups and traps can be triggered by the player in an attempt to disadvantage the other players in the game and take the lead, this was done through the mobile devices.

My Roles

​

  • Created network code to enable communication between the game server and the player clients.

  • Created many of the main gameplay features (lane switching, traps, powerups, ranking system)

  • implemented various assets into the engine (art, audio)
